Shorts saved for another day!

We made the earliest start yet (on this cruise) at 0825, travelling a mile to Watford Locks. There were two boats coming down the flight; we went up the bottom two locks and waited for them to clear the staircase. At the top we talked to Mike and Barbara on Faith and encouraged them to rejoin the Boaters' Christian Fellowship.

At Yelvertoft we stopped for water - good pressure - and had lunch while waiting for the tank to fill. We got talking to a family on a Hire-a-Canal-Boat boat who were interested in the BCF. Our green BCF fleeces do seem to get noticed.

From there we continued without stopping to Foxton Locks, where we tied up at 1800 immediately above the top lock. Almost straight away it started to rain, the first of the day (if you don't count Crick Tunnel, which was wetter than Blisworth Tunnel). Good timing.

After tea we pulled the boat back off the lock landing so as not to have to be up and ready to go at 0800. We're not in a huge rush to get to Market Harborough, and if the moorings there are 48 hours - which I believe they might be - we don't want to overstay if we leave as intended on Sunday afternoon. The rain didn't last long, and we walked down the hill to the Bridge 61 pub for a pint of Inclined Plane (of course) and a hot chocolate. No prizes for guessing who had which.

Today, then, we cruised in dry but coolish conditions. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder, with "light rain". We have plenty of fuel for the stove.
